Former Moorhead pastor steps down as president of Texas Lutheran University

Rev. Ann M. Svennungsen,  a former senior pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, has resigned as president of Texas Lutheran University (TLU) in Seguin, a May 25 news TLU press release says.

The former senior pastor of Trinity Lutheran in Moorhead cited "personal and professional" factors in the decision to resign. Svennungsen’s resignation is effective May 31.

Her resignation follows news that four former TLU players were indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon resulting in bodily injury. The indictment was "in connection with an incident in which they allegedly beat and stomped a University of the Incarnate Word football player outside a party," a May 16 Gazette-Enterprise article says.

TLU is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Svennungsen graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, where she was elected the school’s first female student body president.
