Bishop Larry Wohlrabe's comment on the death of Concordia President Pamela Jolicoeur

Below is a statement by Bishop Larry Wohlrabe on the death of Concordia President Pamela Jolicoeur. Wohlrabe is the bishop of the Northwestern Minnesota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It was published in "Northern Lights," the synod email newsletter.

Wohlrabe writes:

Our synod has lost a dear friend and passionate servant of Christ, with untimely death of President Pamela Jolicoeur last Wednesday (June 9th). Over the last three years I came to treasure deeply Pam’s friendship and partnership in the ministry of "education for vocation" (as she liked to put it) at Concordia College, Moorhead.

Pam’s commitment to Concordia as a college of the church was steadfast and unwavering. Among the initiatives she pursued at Concordia was an expansion of the office of church relations to include broader attention to vocation and church leadership. She sought out new partnerships between the college and the ELCA, including the new "Fabric of Mutual Ministry" program for first-call theological education in the Eastern ND and NW MN Synods. She affirmed, again and again, the presence of our synod’s offices on the college’s campus.

Just a month ago, Pam welcomed us to Concordia for our synod assembly with words that were warm and heartfelt. Today nearly 1000 mourners gathered at Pam’s home congregation, Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, to commend her life to almighty God.

Please join my wife Joy and me in remembering Pam’s life with a gift to the newly-established President Pamela M. Jolicoeur Memorial Scholarship fund at Concordia College; see Concordia’s website for more information on making such a gift.
