Rural ELCA church celebrates its 125th anniversary

There’s something comforting about going from the city to the quiet farm town of Gary.

The streets are quieter. The pace is slower. And the world doesn’t seem to change quite so quickly.

As if to put an exclamation point on the latter, more than 200 people recently gathered at Gary Lutheran Church to celebrate the congregation’s 125th anniversary. It’s an impressive turnout given that the 2008 population estimate for this agricultural town in Norman County was 194.
